Joey Schmidt, of Anchorage, Alaska, pulls a child's wintertime sled full of sockeye salmon across the beach at the mouth of the Kenai River in Kenai, Alaska. Schmidt said he grew up in Alaska but it was his first time dipnet fishing. The fishery, open to Alaskan residents only, is designated a "personal use" fishery and is designed to help Alaskans fill freezers and canning jars with fish.
